Light means everything! You could have the most beautiful area to photograph in but if the light is horrible, the image will fall flat. So you either look for the light or create it yourself. For this particular image, I asked the couple to come outside between the salad and the main course. The sun was just setting behind the trees and I knew the colouring and tone would be amazing. All I asked was for the couple to cuddle up and flirt. They do that so well don't they? If you and your partner are interested in getting sunset shots (and if the weather cooperates) make sure you ask potential photographers too show you their examples of these types of shots. This time you and your partner have is awesome because you get to step away from the business of the reception for at least a few minutes and get to really talk to each other about how the day unfolded. I really believe this quiet time you have as a couple is important because your wedding day goes by way too fast and you want to enjoy every second of it and slow it down any where you can.
