I have to admit I was really nervous about photographing a wedding for another wedding photographer. I was really lucky to have Chris and Heather as my clients. Their wedding took place about an hour and a half from where I grew up in Nova Scotia. They got married at White Point Beach Lodge and consequently this is where I had my own honeymoon after my wedding 20 years ago. Heather looked like an absolute goddess in her wedding dress. Chris looked equally as handsome in his beautiful blue suit. Their boys, I have to admit, stole the show.
Chris and Heather immediately had me feeling like I was part of the family. I stayed with everyone in the days leading up to the wedding at the house that they all had rented. I even got to sleep in a bunkbed which I haven’t done in decades! Being welcomed into their family prior to their wedding was absolutely heartwarming and definitely made for even more authentic emotional images of the adventures leading up to the big day.
Now, this is the part where the emotions really get real. Grab your tissues because I cried along with everyone at every step of the way. At certain points during the day before their wedding and the day of, Chris had delivered hand written beautiful letters to Heather with a gift that symbolized their love and which were meaningful every step of the way. One of the gifts that will always stick by me was a pendant that had the latitude and longitude of where they first met, of where they got engaged, where Heather met Chris’s boys and was called ‘mom’, and also where they were getting married.
